Prodigy and the Use of Video Games in a Classroom

  Lesson Plan Prodigy This lesson was a great way to practice a new teaching method in a controlled environment. I initially found the program very enticing from a students perspective. It is a true to form video game, bringing in many combat and exploration elements that would be exciting to me. After teaching the lesson I have come to the conclusion that I most likely would not use the program in a classroom setting. While the lesson we taught went alright, much of it felt like idle time or time spent away from the task at hand.  The benefits of prodigy is that, it allows students to complete math work on their own time and at their own pace. From my experience in the lesson, I believe I would provide prodigy as an option for students to take part in outside of class time. The frequency of math questions makes it so in about 15 minutes of work time, students may only end up completing 5-10 math problems.    

Post #1: AI applications and their various uses

Previous experience with AI applications (e.g., ChatGPT) and how you have used them (e.g., writing assignments)? I have a history with AI applications, having utilised some of the earliest publicly available forms a few years back. Initially, I spent a good amount of time with ChatGPT, but I have recently moved over to Google Gemini, and I prefer the format and data. My primary use of AI comes in the form of research and information gathering. I am not fond of the way AI phrases some ideas or writes papers, but its use in mass idea generation is invaluable. Recently, I have begun putting AI to use with lesson planning. I will ask questions that allow me to efficiently generate ideas for classroom activities and lessons.   Educational technology being used in your 3rd-year practicum placement? My Mentor utilizes a multitude of helpful AI tools, some for small efficiency tasks such as   'class dojo', and others to generate much larger components of lessons. 'Teach Share AI...
