Robotics in Action: Sphero Robot Races Sphero robot is an incredible, hands on tool that allows students to interact with robots. Through block coding programming, and manualm control, students can maneuver, Sphero, create unique displays, and solve challenges. In this lesson, students are tasked to create a code that guides their Sphero through an increasingly complex course. Students are forced to problem solve, revise, and collaborate to find the most efficient and accurate solution. Sphero has nearly limitless applications in a classroom and can be effectively used by students as young as Grade 1 with some teacher support. The Sphero provides students with a fantastic introduction into computational thinking, demonstrating the importance of detailed instructions.           Check out my lesson plan

For this post, I adapted a scratch lesson about creating a band using sprites and sound tools. I integrated this with the fine arts music curriculum relating to compositions and different tonal qualities. This lesson also provides students with the opportunity to experiment with different tools in scratch.  Check out my lesson   here Check out the original plan here

The Blackfoot Confederacy: The Kainai Nation

Image
This is a visual storytelling of the history and key aspects of the Kainai (Blood Tribe) of the Blackfoot Confederacy. The Kainai people are deeply rooted in the history of Alberta, in relation to the Treaty 7 agreements. Their connection to the land runs incredibly deep, and their history predates the settlers of Canada by decades. It is important that we, as guests on the land honour and respect the traditions of the Kainai people and preserve the land for the future of all. Please watch my visual story here .
